VBS is just one week away. Thank you for registering your children and continue encouraging family and neighbors to register on our church website http://www.unionunitedmethodist.org. We are thankful for our volunteers and at this time you have answered our requests for  volunteers, craft and decorating materials!! Blessings to all! We still are requesting youth to assist in the classrooms with our classroom teachers. Finally, we are asking our church members to assist with the closing of Athens VBS on Friday, June 28 from 9:30-12:00 in the Wesley Center and narthex. Our job is to take down the props in the Wesley Center and narthex and return to TLCS shed and other areas of the church. Trucks will be needed to support some of this work. Finally, VBS Sunday is Sunday, June 30 and honoring our children and volunteers at the 11:10 Service. Thank you again Union for your support and we are grateful! Please pray for a safe and successful VBS! Julia Faile, Gayle Puckett, Suzy Broadus and Ann Copelan, VBS Directors

During Vacation Bible School this year our kids are divided into family groups called “Oikos” groups. So to support families our mission project is Family Promise,  a non profit that focuses on keeping homeless families together in their transition. Family Promise provides support services for budgeting, job search and life skills so that the families can find permanent housing. One way we will help is by collecting items for families to use immediately and as they set up their home. Items such as paper goods, cleaning supplies, toiletries and even fun stuff for kids. If you would like to help our efforts feel free to leave items in the Well in the Narthex. Thank you for your prayers and support for VBS!!!

As the time draws closer to VBS on June 23-27 from 6:00-8:00PM, please register your children or encourage your neighbors or friends to register soon so we can be prepared. We value every child and volunteer and want to ensure all areas are covered.Register below or contact Suzy@unionunitedmethodist.org. It is going to be an exciting week of Bible Stories learned through teaching, drama, music, crafts, and games!!

• Water-a-Worker Sundays, July 7 and 14
Lake Murray Salkehatchie will be taking place in a few weeks, July 20-27, and will most likely be some of the hottest days of the summer!  Please help us keep the workers well-hydrated by donating a case of bottled water or Gatorade for use on site while working on homes. Drop off cases in the Family Ministries Center Multipurpose Room on these designated Sundays. Thank you!!! Questions, contact Monica Crodian, 917-1892.

• Wish List Pot Luck Fellowship Dinner with Lake Murray Salkehatchie!
Union UMC will be hosting a Pot Luck Fellowship Dinner for Lake Murray Salkehatchie on Wednesday, July 24 at 6:00 pm in the Family Ministries Center Gym. Please fix your favorite family recipe to serve 8-10 people and come share a meal with the workers of Salkehatchie! There will be a program featuring a slideshow of pictures of workers on their sites making repairs on selected homes. Salkehatchie workers will also bring “wish lists” of items before the Union family that their homeowner sites need that are not covered by the budgeted repair items. These items of need may be used appliances, furniture, or other necessary items. Questions, contact Monica Crodian, 917-1892. Let’s open our hearts and hands to support Lake Murray Salkehatchie and the families that it will be serving in our community.
