Water-a-Worker Sundays, July 9 and 16
Lake Murray Salkehatchie will be taking place in a few weeks, July 22-29, and will most likely be some of the hottest days of the summer!  Please help us keep the workers well-hydrated by donating a case of bottled water or Gatorade for use on site while working on homes.  Drop off cases in the Family Ministries Center Cafeteria on these designated Sundays.  Thank you!!!  Questions, contact Monica Crodian, 917-1892.

Wish List Pot Luck Fellowship Dinner with Lake Murray Salkehatchie!
Union UMC will be hosting a Pot Luck Fellowship Dinner for Lake Murray Salkehatchie on Wednesday, July 26 at 6:00 pm in the Family Ministries Center Gym.  Please fix your favorite family recipe to serve 8-10 people and come share a meal with the workers of Salkehatchie!  There will be a program featuring a slideshow of pictures of workers on their sites making repairs on selected homes.  Salkehatchie workers will also bring “wish lists” of items before the Union family that their homeowner sites need that are not covered by the budgeted repair items. These items of need may be used appliances, furniture, or other necessary items.  Questions, contact Monica Crodian, 917-1892. Let’s open our hearts and hands to support Lake Murray Salkehatchie and the families that it will be serving in our community.

The theme of Camp Friarsgate is “Renewed,” and just as God creates good and beautiful works of art out of the good, bad and ugly, we are going to channel our Creator’s spirit and create beautiful crafts out of trash. Help us make renewed art projects by collecting the following items*:

CD clear jewel cases
2-liter bottles-washed out
small gravel for flower pot
cereal boxes flattened
scrap cloth ribbon
old maps of world or US-old Atlas, NatGeo maps
small jigsaw puzzle pieces

*A collection box is located in the narthex

Football teams aren’t the only teams that recruit new players — Union’s Acolyte team is on a recruiting mission looking for young people who are willing and able to serve their church and their Lord as acolytes at the 9:00 worship service.  Our team currently includes youth who usually attend the 11:10 service but several times a year serve as acolytes or crucifers at the 9:00 service. That means this opportunity is open to ALL youth from 5th grade to 12th grade who are looking for a way to serve, regardless of the worship service they usually attend.

If you know you would like to join the Acolyte team, or if you just want to learn more about it before making a decision, please contact Gail Elfert as soon as possible because the new service opportunities for the summer are being scheduled now. Training will be provided for all new team members. Contact Gail at celfert@aol.com or by phone/text at 803-466-2403.
