Saturday, April 29, 7:30 PM at Union United Methodist Church
It’s a rare opportunity to see a world-renowned composer lead a performance of his own work. But that’s just what you’ll get as guest conductor Z. Randall Stroope and artistic director Dustin Ousley conduct the first-ever concert dedicated entirely to Stroope’s own compositions. High school students from around the state will be invited to rehearse and perform with Stroope and the Sandlapper Singers, increasing the size of the choir to nearly 100 voices. Don’t miss this once-in-a-lifetime musical event! Members of Union United Methodist receive a 20% discount on tickets when ordering online. Use the code Union2017 at checkout to access the special rate.

Union, through our Missions Team, has partnered with the Central South Carolina Habitat for Humanity to participate in the 2017 “Interfaith Build”. Union is one of a dozen faith congregations throughout the Columbia area participating this year. Habitat for Humanity is a volunteer organization that builds homes for those in need, with the recipient participating in the build out. The location for the house is 113 Century Hill in Lexington. Union’s workday is scheduled for Saturday, May 20.

Work sessions are 8:30 am-12 pm and 12:30-3:30 pm. It is anticipated that our part would involve painting, cabinetry installation, mirrors. laminate flooring, and general spruce up. To accomplish this we need 15-20 volunteers for this day, depending on the interest, we may be able to split into morning and afternoon teams.

Also, it would be very helpful to have a small team put together a light lunch to be served at noon for the workers. A sandwich, chips, fruit, cookies, and a drink would be all that is needed. A great way for a Sunday school class to get involved!
